Current works in progress:

LORELEI, an introspective dark fantasy story presented in serialized format: a tale of love without redemption, centred around madness, mythology, nightmare and dream. Check out the parts here in my gallery, or at my livejournal: [link]

TRAPDOOR. An official release date for the new edition of the novel will be announced shortly, along with a new website and other goodies.

ORCHIDVEIL.NET. My personal website will finally be revamped in the first half of the new year, as it's already long overdue!

LOST VIOLET PRESS [link] will be launched as my new publishing company, in tandem with the re-release of Trapdoor.

REVENANT. Another series I put on hiatus last year, but you can find it in my gallery. I'm thinking about resurrecting it sometime this year, probably not till the second half of 2008 though.

THE NEXT NOVEL. I've given up on being so presumptuous as to give it a name anymore, but you can rest assured it's still ticking around in my head. I'd like to start seriously working on it this year, but we'll see. ^^;

:hug: It will mean a lot of work will have been done, and more work will be able to have begun, and I will be glad of that too :heart: :blackrose:

Yes, it's something I've wanted to do always, since the first edition of Trapdoor actually, but back then I was dumb enough to talk myself into thinking I didn't need it. One day I plan to commission an anthology, but for now it's just for me, Trapdoor, and the-next-novel-that-will-not-be-named :XD:

I'm curious, what goes into creating a publishing company?

Okay, prepare for a long answer. Apologies in advance ;)

Well, in my country it's basically registering a business name, first off. In yours, I think you can create an LLC (company.) This entitles you to get a bank account in that name, do business under that name, and (for .com.au domain names) get a domain name. So I'm officially registered as Lost Violet Press :XD: Then there's buying ISBNs, which in America is hideously expensive, in Canada is free (lucky bastards :D ) and in Australia is something you have to pay for but isn't expensive like in the US. The important thing is to get at least a block of 10, rather than just 1, because it's more affordable that way, and more experienced eyes can tell you're just a fly-by-nighter if you only get 1 (or so I'm told.) And then there's printing and distribution, and getting listed in ordering systems like Books In Print etc. As far as America/Europe is concerned, I'll be using a company called Lightning Source Inc which is a division of Ingram, the biggest distributor in the States. They do print on demand, which means someone orders your book (from Amazon (globally, not just the .com one), or directly via a bookstore) and the order is triggered at LSI or Ingram, who then print a copy and ship it to the customer. It's better to do it this way rather than print a thousand + at once, because you don't have inventory sitting around (books can get damaged in long term storage, and I believe at least in some states of America you get charged taxes for warehousing as well.) However, printing/distribution in this country will be done via another company because the costs of shipping to Australia from the US using this method just aren't feasible. But the actual process will be the same. Then, of course, there's the stuff like editing, typesetting and cover design, marketing and promo stuff. Luckily my life itself has let me have experience in all of these things. I didn't organise typesetting/printing for Trapdoor the first time around, and at the time there wasn't any "easy" way onto Amazon, which are both things I've always regretted. And yet not, in a way, because Trapdoor is going to be so much stronger and better this time around. I'm also thinking of doing an e-Book release of it too.

Yeah, probably tl;dr. Sorry again :hug:
